Tracy Morrison was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She currently lives and works in Vail, Colorado. Tracy received a BA in Fine Art from the University of Louisville. While in Louisville she co-founded Café Dog, a café supported gallery for emerging artists. She was Executive Director of ARTSWATCH, a non-profit presenting and service arts organization. She was also an active member of the Louisville Visual Arts Association. Tracy relocated to Vail, Colorado in 2001. She has organized and taught art classes in the Vail Valley; served on the Town of Vail’s Art in Public Places Board; and currently she holds the seat of treasurer on the board of Eagle Valley Artists’ Alliance.
Tracy has received a fellowship for her photography from the Kentucky Foundation for Women. She has been commissioned to create works of art by both corporations and private individuals. Her work has been exhibited in both solo and group art exhibitions in Kentucky and Colorado.
She is an interdisciplinary artist working in photography, painting, printmaking, drawing and mixed media. Her work yields from her curiosity about human nature and desire to capture decisive moments. She presents a notion but leaves the viewer room for their own interpretation. Signs of influence can be seen coming from magical realism; grimly satiric humor; and the hoplessly romantic.
